I've spent most of today looking at Google Street View for Glasgow and Edinburgh. Not spotted myself or anyone I know, but amazingly Newton Mearns is included so my mum was thrilled/disturbed by being able to see her house.
Also my antidepressant got stuck in my throat and I could feel it inching its way down my oesophagus all day, and then the moment it hit my stomach I damn near passed out from tiredness. Bloody pills.
Nina and I are going to bake mum a cheesecake for Mother's Day, which she's been gunning for since she heard about my baking them for Bob on Valentine's Day and for Drew's chili party thing. Nina requested that it be a bright colour so we're going to experiment with pink food colouring. Watch this space for photos of a lurid pink cheesecake... We're forcing her and Lars to go out tomorrow night to achieve this, which has the added benefit of letting them have some time together.
At least it will match the nighty we got her.
Oh yes. Feel the cheesiness of the World's Best Mum nighty.

So, I'm a total waster again, which I should have seen coming. Oh well.
Valentines day was nice, I baked cheesecake and I no has eated it. Well, I had some of it, because it was gargantuan, but only after I had presented it to Bob. It took me two attempts to make the cherry compote on top because I burned the absolute fuck out of the sugar the first time I tried to do the syrup.
Bob gave me Chrono Trigger, which was a frankly awesome present. So far I've visited the post-apocalyptic future, the pre-historic past, the medieval past and the industrial-revolution steampunk present day. In the grand tradition of naming party members the first thing that pops into my head (within the six-character limit) when I encounter them, my party consists of Bunjam (short for Bunjamioh) the generic hero-guy, Foetza the scientist, Kilbot the robot, Hump the cavewoman, Bublor the princess and Trevor the frog hero. Awesome.
I also got some killer pens from Drew, which I will use to write fanfiction about Little Howard watching Big Howard slowly wither and die over the years while he remains the same. Perhaps with illustrations.
I am ill. It is either a cold or consumption.

I have had the flu, which has been a large amount of rubbish. I'm feeling better today though, thanks in no small part to the excellent care provided by Bob in the form of soup, Lemsip capsules, fluids, wet flannels for my head and cuddles.
Now I'd better go pay my rent.

| I also bought a Toblerone. BEcause, damn, Toblerone. |

In order to (even slightly) mitigate the unusually horrible fits of depression and anxiety I've been having, I practiced a little retail therapy today, mainly in the form of scouring Asda's underwear clearance section for nice pants. What's good about Asda is that it's often pretty easy to find size 16s and 18s, even in the sale.
I got 11 pairs, and when I was trying them on I was struck by how much bigger they looked when taken off the little hangers. It made me think of this post: http://kateharding.net/2009/01/07/a-bit-of-perspective/ from Shapely Prose, because I thought "You know, to some people, these pants would be comically, frighteningly huge. It would be some people's worst nightmare to have to buy these."
But, I realised, not mine. Not anymore. So that was a nice little extra boost on top of the pleased feeling that owning Hello Kitty pants has given me.

Nina just spent five minutes making something out of paper.
It was a paper crown. She plonked it on my head. It says on it "Padantic Queen".
Don't even GET me started.

SO the estimable Mr Doran was visiting me over the last few days, and much fun and laughter was had. We went to see Twilight (or Twichlicht, as it is known to the Few) and laughed our vampire boners off. He also, kind soul that he is, gave me book tokens for Christmas. Yay!
So I went book shopping today with Josy, and purchased a weighty tome on languages of the world and a book about Auschwitz. Josy took advantage of the half price offers to get Terry Pratchett's new book Nation, and I ogled about ten attractive young men in the history section in Borders.
My dad called me and we met for coffee, which wasn't as unpleasant as it could have been (at least in part due to Bob showing up after work), and on my way up to meet him I checked out Poundland and got Hannibal Rising and two YA fantasy books I'd never heard of but that look interesting, all for a pound each! So I am well on my way to a stockpile for the 2009 50 book challenge. :)
